Are you tired of feeling stressed out, worried and unhappy? Do you know why you’re unhappy? Are you ready to change but you don’t know what or how? I will work with you to set goals to move your life closer to the life you most want to live. Life will never be stress free but you can find peace, balance and even joy.
A lot of people ask me about Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Here is a graphic that discusses the core principle of CBT. It basically says that our behaviors, feelings and thoughts (or cognitions) directly impact each other and if we interrupt one, positivity or negatively, we will impact all three.
I don’t believe in a “one size fits all” method and I will work to provide with strategies that have been tested and proven effective.
I am trained in EMDR and use it regularly with clients. What is it?! Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. In a nutshell, when your brain gets overwhelmed it saves information in a very different way. For some people with a history of anxiety, trauma and/or depression, EMDR has been shown to help their brains re-save that information in a way that is not as stressful.
Couples & Family
Do you and you partner love each but struggle to solve problems or really listen? Are you worried you will lose something really special if you don’t make some changes?
Research shows, that up to 66% of conflict in a happy, long term relationship may not ever be resolved. I can’t show you how to never fight again but I can give you strategies for working together and communicating more effectively so that you can get back to having fun with each other again.
I once heard someone say, “If I win, my marriage loses.” Both of your perspectives are important and valuable. Let’s find a way for your relationship to win. As a Gottman Level III trained clinician, I employ a great deal of Gottman interventions and research to support couples while they grow.
Research has proven that how we get started in life, impacts us as adults. Our childhood creates the lense through which we see the world, making family communication pivotal to our growth and health. It is important for us to explore our roles in our families both as children and later as adults.
I offer families the opportunity to constructively explore ways to improve communication, heal and support one another.
We have all experienced pain and growth. I believe that the best, most impactful growth comes from understanding and working through pain. As a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor (LPC-S), I have the pleasure of supporting LPC- Interns as they explore their growth from student interns into licensed professionals. In each counselor’s journey, they will notice that their own pain may be triggered and that can open doors and allow them to relate more effectively and sincerely to their clients.
My interns can expect an integrative approach that allows space for their creativity and personality alongside the structure of a mentor and teacher. My supervision is done with the whole person in mind as that is who will be working with your clients each session. The fee for individual supervision is $300 per month.
My basic expectations of all LPC-Interns:
- Endeavor to follow the board rules in letter and spirit.
- Seek a greater knowledge of yourself, your clients and the profession.
- Challenge yourself to explore constructive feedback when it is provided.
